Cheryl Carr

After 30 years as a geography teacher, curriculum writer and department head at Dr. Norman Bethune C.I., Cheryl recently retired from the Toronto District School Board. Her award-winning student group, BEAT (Bethune Environmental Action Team), has been recognized by the EcoSchools program (helping Bethune to become a Platinum EcoSchool), the Scarborough Urban Hero Awards and the Live Green Toronto Awards. Cheryl was also presented with the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008.  She continues to stay actively involved in environmental education through her work with EcoSchools, Live Green Toronto, EcoSpark and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
